Karan Johar is one of the biggest filmmakers in Bollywood and his films always rock the box office. As a director, he has also given many memorable films to the audience. The special thing about Karan Johar's films is his brilliant casting. Everyone in the industry is eager to work with him. There is one actress who worked in Karan's film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, but after that, she did not get any work from Karan's production house Dharma Productions.
This actress is none other than Himani Shivpuri, who has appeared in films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Himani recently told in an interview with Siddharth Kannan that perhaps Karan Johar was angry with her, due to which she did not get a chance to work in Dharma Productions films again.
Himani Shivpuri said that on the last day of shooting of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Karan Johar told her, "Himani ji, it was a pleasure working with you. You are a lucky charm for me." On this, Himani laughingly told Karan, "Give me a good role next time." Karan also laughingly agreed and said that he would definitely do so.
But after this things did not happen as Himani had expected. When Himani came to know that Karan Johar's next film Kal Ho Na Ho was being planned, she thought that perhaps she would get a chance to work in this film too. But when she met the film's director Nikhil Advani, she came to know that there was no role for her in the film. Himani said, "I did not understand why this happened to me. After that, I never got any offer from Dharma Productions."
After this, during an award show, Himani herself asked Karan Johar why she was not cast in Kal Ho Na Ho. To this, Karan replied, "No Himani ji, that role was not enough for you. When there is a role worthy of you, we will call you."
Himani further said, "I thought maybe my words hurt him. Maybe that's why he got angry with me. We were very good friends earlier and used to joke a lot on the set. But after this, I never got a chance to work with him."
From this experience of Himani Shivpuri, it is clear that relationships and communication are significant in the industry. Sometimes even a small thing can hurt someone, which affects future work. Although Karan Johar never clarified whether he was angry, Himani is sure that her words hurt Karan.
