On Saturday, Karnataka's Industries Minister Jagdish Shettar asked the state's industrial area to restore functioning. Industry has been closed for more than 55 days due to the lockdown implemented since March 25 to control the coronavirus.

In a virtual conversation with the members of the apex body, the Industry Minister said that coronavirus infection is affecting normal life, yet economic activities have to be reopened. Under the new rules of wearing masks, washing hands with sanitizers and following physical distance, industries can be restored.

Regarding the relaxation given in the lockdown rules, Shettar said that many units manufacture essential things across the state. Principal Secretary of Industries Department Gaurav Gupta said that the state government is committed to support the industry sector. There is no restriction on industries for employing human resources as per safety regulations.
