BANGALORE: The counting of votes polled for the May 10th Karnataka Assembly elections, which seen a fierce fight between archrivals BJP and the Congress, besides the JD(S) will be taken up on May 13 as the parties are waiting with bated breath to know their fate over the possibility of a hung Assembly.
Overall, as of 8.28 am Bjp leads 64, Congress 64, JDS 0 and others 5.
Counting for the Assembly polls begin at 8 am that will decide the fate of 2,615 candidates across parties. Notably, Congress is expected to have a clear edge in Karnataka as 4 exit polls give it a full majority and some predicting for a hung assembly with an advantage to the party. A few exit polls also predicted that BJP is ahead in the sweepstakes to form the government.
On May 10, exit polls indicated a close race between the Congress and the BJP, with the majority of pollsters favouring the grand old party. The Congress is hoping for a morale-boosting victory to give it the much-needed breathing room and momentum to position itself as the main opposition player in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the ruling BJP, having bet on the Modi juggernaut, is looking to break a 38-year-old poll jinx where the people have never voted the incumbent party to power.
