Shivmogga: Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnatakaon Friday announced the release of Rs 5.00 crore for the development of Allamaprabhu's birthplace.

Speaking after unveiling the 51-foot-tall statue of Shivasharane Akkamahadevi at Udutadi, and inaugurating the Yatra place on the lines of Akshara Dham and various development works in Shikaripura Assembly constituency, the CM pledged to release the grant of Rs 10 crore for the PG building of the Women's University and development of Shivanapaada.

Shikaripura, which the CM referred to as a "god's land," will be developed with a focus on agriculture, education, and spirituality with the aim of making it a model taluk, he said.

Previous CM BS Yediyurappa provided us the fortitude to overcome obstacles, and our bond is similar to that of a father and son in mine. Politics is not relevant. This constituency has been totally developed by the previous CM, "Bommai said, heaping praise on the former CM.

The Sharana Kula left his footsteps on the soil of Shikaripura as he set out on an expedition to explore the state while bringing the Sharana way of life with him, he said. People first became aware of the Kayaka society at the Anubhava Mantap in Basava Kalyana, which served as the centre of power.

Bommai continued to compliment his predecessor, saying, "Yediyurappa has always battled injustice and has never aspired to be the chief minister.   He won the love and confidence of the people by serving them continuously. His mantra is self-confidence and strength and he was ready to take the world on. The Basava Kalyana received 600 crore rupees thanks to Yediyurappa, who would be remembered for the next ten generations. He has continued the revolution that the Shivasharanas began in the 12th century "he said.

The Cheif minster  said Yediyurappa has also given Rs 45 crore for Kanakadasa's Kaginele, and Rs 14 crore for the development of Baada including the fort and the palace.

"Yediyurappa fought for 35 years without even holding political influence. Ramakrishna Hegde and Yediyurappa were the only two leaders who introduced mass leadership to Karnataka politics. His retirement is a given since the populace won't let them do so. He will always hold a special place in people's hearts. The State will have access to his services in a variety of ways. A nation needs leaders who can help build it, now more than ever."

Among those present at the occasion were Murugharajendra Swamiji of Anandapura, Yediyurappa, Ministers Govind Karjol and B.A.Basavaraj, MLC Kumar Bangarappa, and MP B.Y. Raghavendra.
