Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said on Tuesday that the state government is considering turning over the investigation into death threats to three High Court judges, including the Chief Justice, following their decision on the hijab row to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

"We're considering referring this case to the NIA, and we're keeping track of other details. It has been taken very seriously by the government. It's not appropriate to criticise and threaten sitting judges "Jnanendra expressed his thoughts. For allegedly uttering death threats, a man from Tamil Nadu has been sentenced to eight days in police detention.

"The danger against judges has been taken seriously by the administration, as it amounts to a challenge to the system. He was remanded in police custody for eight days by the Magistrate Court in this city. The crime would be investigated by Bengaluru police "Araga Jnanendra, the Karnataka Home Minister, went on to say more.

"Two persons have been brought into custody by the Tamil Nadu police, according to my information," the Karnataka Home Minister said. Following the threats, the three judges were given protection of the 'Y' category security. Several petitions contesting a ban on Hijab at educational institutions were dismissed by the Karnataka High Court, which stated that wearing a Hijab is not an essential religious practise of Islam.
