BANGALORE: In an eagerly anticipated move, the Karnataka government has announced that it will begin accepting applications for the 'Gruha Lakshmi' program starting either on July 17 or July 19. The final date will be confirmed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

During a press conference at Vidhana Soudha, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar provided comprehensive details about the scheme.

When will the application process for Gruha Lakshmi commence?: The application process will commence once the program is officially launched on either July 17 or July 19.

"We have requested our central leaders to inaugurate the scheme at 5 pm on July 17 in the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha. In case that is inconvenient, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the scheme on July 19 at 5 pm in the Banquet Hall. The application process will begin following the scheme's launch," stated Hebbalkar.

However, the minister declined to reveal the identity of the individuals referred to as 'central leaders.'
Where can individuals apply for 'Gruha Lakshmi'?

Hebbalkar informed that all eligible 1.28 crore women in the state will receive an SMS on their mobile phones specifying the date, time, and location for registration. Beneficiaries can visit designated centers, such as Karnataka One, Bangalore One, Grama One, and Bapuji Seva Kendra, to submit their applications.

In case applicants miss their appointment, they can visit the designated center any day after 5 pm.

Additionally, the government has assigned two volunteers for every thousand beneficiaries who will visit their homes to assist with the registration process.

Currently, the government does not accept online applications, and the minister stated that a decision regarding online applications will be made based on demand.

Required documents for registering under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme

Applicants must bring their ration card, Below Poverty Line card (BPL), Above Poverty Line card (APL), or Antyodaya card, along with their Aadhaar card.

If applicants wish to receive funds in a bank account not linked to Aadhaar, they must carry their bank passbook, ration card, and Aadhaar card.

Deadline for 'Gruha Lakshmi'; Hebbalkar clarified that there is no specific deadline for the scheme as it will be an ongoing project. Therefore, people can register without any urgency.

No registration fee for 'Gruha Lakshmi': The minister emphasized that there will be no fee for registering under the scheme.

The government has also provided a helpline number, 8147500500, for beneficiaries to seek clarification via SMS. In case of any doubts regarding the scheme, people can call the number 1902.
