Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) operating in Karnataka on Thursday said that it has donated 2 ambulances to a hospital during the pandemic. HAL gave part of the company's corporate social responsibility to Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College and Research Institute (BLCMC and RI).

HAL CMD R. Madhavan told in a press release that "They can be used to transport patients who need medical monitoring in transit and non-invasive airway management. The ambulance was handed over in a ceremony organized in the presence of Sudhakar, the state's medical education minister, and senior government officials and HAL."

According to the release, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between HAL and BLCMC and RI. The MoU deals with the maintenance of ambulances by BLCMC and RI. Alok Verma director of HAL said, "Ambulance comprises an air conditioner, basic life support system, analogue oxygen delivery system, auto-loader stretcher trolley with floor mounting mechanism".

Under BLCMC and RI, there are three major government hospitals. Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, HSIS Goshala Hospital and BBMP Super Specialty Hospital. Currently, they have been converted into Corona hospitals. Last month, HAL handed over the Corona Care Center to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (Bengaluru civic body). The facility now has 178 beds with other supporting infrastructure, saying that all are currently in use.
