B Sreeramulu who is constantly in controversies with the state over Covid-19 management is now given the Social Welfare department. The Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had discussed about the change in portfolios with Sreeramulu but he expected the change as part of a larger cabinet reshuffle after expansion. However, it is reported that Sreeramulu met Chief Minister Yediyurappa, seeking a change of portfolio at least on two different occasions. Reports say that Sreeramulu felt being overshadowed by Sudhakar in COVID-19 management.

The victory did not brought joy to the minister because of the time and situation. The change happened now has been considered as an insult. Due to the raise of Ramesh Jarkiholi another valmiki community leader in the BJP his importance in the Karnataka BJP has been threatened.  Both Sudhakar and Jarkiholi joined the BJP in 2019, during the shift of ministries.  The Chief Minister’s Office explained that the decision is aimed at effective Covid-19 management by eliminating the dual power centre leading to confusion and delays.
