With increase in COVID-19 patients, the government is taking all necessary steps to control the spread. Remdesivir, the most-used medicine for treatment of covid patient is made free of cost patients who get admitted under the government quota and whose oxygen saturation level falls less than 85. The treating doctors decide on the dosage and have to raise a requisition for the injection to be arranged through the Arogya Mitra desk at any covid treatment hospitals.

Under this scheme a maximum of 6 vials of Remdesivir can be given which costs around INR 32,400 is now made free for the patients. BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad told, “Every hospital has an Arogya Mitra desk which is the help desk managed by SAST.  Remdesivir injections will be available in advance with the Arogya Mitra desk. When a patient admitted requires the injection as prescribed by the doctor, the hospital raises intent with the SAST and SAST will give approval to Arogya Mitra who in turn will give the drug to the patient free of cost.” he added if the hospital runs out of the stock, drug will be replenished at the Arogya Mitra desk from the K Karnataka Drug Logistics in a few hours.

A toll free number 1800-425-2646 or 1800-425-8330 can be used to inform about non-availability of the drug at treating hospitals, or if hospital or treating doctors asks for payment to purchase. The scheme is applicable for patients under government quota/SAST quota/BBMP quota.
