Bengaluru : Araga Jnanendra, the Karnataka Home Minister, accused Congress leaders of inflaming tensions in the state over the continuing Hijab controversy on Wednesday. "In Karnataka, Congress officials are pouring ghee on a burning flame. The state is becoming more tense as a result of their utterances "Jnanendra stated.

The minister also refuted DK Shivakumar's assertion that a student in a college replaced the national flag with a saffron flag, claiming that Shivakumar unjustly accused the students of removing the national flag and that there was no tricolour flying in the college.

"DK Shivakumar has made a reckless remark that has heightened the situation. Coming from a top Congress official, this is such an irresponsible and offensive statement. We should not instil religious sentiments in students' minds "he stated

"The Congress is currently the state's opposition party, and if the current trend continues, the people will hurl the party into the Arabian Sea," he warned.  "The situation in some Karnataka educational institutions has gone so out of hand that in one occasion the National flag was changed by a saffron flag," Shivakumar tweeted on Tuesday.

Another tweet states, "Some anti-national individuals affiliated with the BJP have taken down the national flag in a college in Shimoga."
