BENGALURU: Following an unprecedented surge of Covid-19 cases in the state on Tuesday, the Karnataka government imposed limits and issued new rules until January 19. As a precautionary measure against the third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, the night curfew has been extended until January 19 and a weekend curfew has been implemented.

Minister for Health K. Sudhakar told reporters following a marathon meeting to review the state's current predicament, which was chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, that classes from 1 to 9 standards have been suspended.

During the week, pubs, taverns, restaurants, and theatres will operate at half-capacity. In all religious places and prayer halls, the number of worshippers is limited to 50 at any given moment, he noted. According to him, the number of guests allowed at a wedding is limited to 100 in choultries, indoor places, and 200 in outdoor locations.

International passengers who test positive at airports will not be able to return home. They will be sent to hospitals and motels that have been designated by the government. Minister Sudhakar indicated that those who returned from the state of Goa would be traced and tested again because the majority of Goa returnees test positive for Covid.
