After a hustle of 11 days, Karnataka police has detained the human trafficker KS Manjunath who is also known as ‘Santro Ravi’ from Ahmedabad earlier today.

He has a string of criminal cases against him including human trafficking, interfering in police transfers and rape, and three of his associates have also been arrested.

Seven to eight police teams have went after him and chasing him for a period of 11 days across several states. The accused has changed his appearance by shaving off his head and removing his moustache. Additional director general of police Alok Kumar said that he has detained him within hours after he entered Ahmedabad.

Santro Ravi was well aware of police operations and frequently changing places, vehicles and sim-cards.  He has been arrested in a case filed by his wife. He allegedly drugged, raped, and forced her into marriage in 2019.

His wife has given an important clue regarding to him when she was questioned few days ago, she has given the name Ramji, who can help in capturing Ravi. As he has knew about the Ravi whereabouts and business dealings, who is from Gujarat but resides in Kochi.

On January 13, he was traced to Ahmedabad; his trail led them to Ahmedabad city. Under Mysore police Commissioner Ramesh Bhanot, 8 teams were formed 11 days ago and sent them to Kerala, Telangana and Maharashtra.

Opposition Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress have questioned the BJP government over pictures of Ravi in the company of several ministers and have alleged that the state administration had been handed over to criminals. A delay of 12 days in carrying out Ravi’s arrest also triggered speculation of government support.

“He approached police officers with a claim of being close to the CM. He sent lists of police transfers and claimed to have facilitated the transfers. He also brought along women to meetings and claimed that they were supplied to political leaders,” a police officer familiar with his modus operandi said.

“He has moved across Kerala, Telangana and Maharashtra and our teams were sent too many places. He is a well-established criminal and the Goonda Act was invoked against him in Mysore in 2005. He has a criminal mind and knows how to evade arrest. Through sustained effort, we were able to track him down to Ahmedabad in Gujarat. He will be brought to Mysore on a transit warrant,” the ADGP said.

Alok Kumar has congratulated the police teams which were headed by Officer Ramesh Banoth, Mandya SP Yathish N, Raichur SP Nikhil B, and Ramnagar SP K Santosh Babu, DCP M Muthuraju and Geetha Prasanna and investigating officer and ACPs Shivashankar and Ashwathnarayan.
