Karnataka: RTC employees strike continues for fifth day, people face problems

Bengaluru: The corona has changed the lives of many people and bus services were also affected on Sunday during a strike by road transport corporations (RTC) workers due to pay issues in Karnataka. According to the Sixth Pay Commission, the employees of four transport corporations of the state are demanding salary, there is a deadlock between the government and them. Most of the workers are not coming to work due to which buses are off the roads and passengers are facing problems.

Officials said some RTC personnel returned to work amid warnings of "no work or no salary" and buses are plying on some roads in the district. Similar information has been received from some other places in the state. People are seen using their private vehicles, cabs, metros, and autorickshaws, especially in the districts. The Metro increased the number of trains between 7 am and 9 pm.

In order to remove the inconvenience caused to the persons due to the strike, the government made arrangements for the services of private transport operators and running some special trains. Private buses, minibusses, maxi cabs, and other transport vehicles were also seen plying in several parts of the state. Metro has also extended its services from 7 am to 9 pm. Several private operators said most of the passengers are still facing problems.
