Laxman Utekar, who is preparing to premiere his next film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, has responded to a question about casting actor Katrina Kaif in his film. Laxman explained why he couldn't cast Katrina alongside her husband-actor Vicky Kaushal in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke in a new interview. Laxman stated that he does not believe Katrina is capable of playing the part of a "middle-class joint family daughter-in-law."
In an interview with Peeping Moon, Laxman Utekar said, "Meri language Katrina ko samajh aayegi tabhi kar paunga. Aapko lagta hai Katrina kabhi small town ki heroine lagegi? If we get a good script, I would love to work with Vicky and Katrina."
He also added, "I wouldn't get them onboard this time because Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is in a different space and I feel Katrina ka joh aura hai and personality hai, mujhe personally laga nahi ki voh ek middle-class joint family ki bahu lag sakti hai. Agar future mein aisa kuch banega joh unko suit karega toh kyun nahi."
Katrina was most recently featured in the horror comedy film Phone Bhoot, which she co-starred in with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter. She will next be seen in the upcoming action-thriller Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on Diwali 2023.
Aside from that, she has Merry Christmas, directed by Sriram Raghavan, in which she co-stars with Vijay Sethupathi. She will also appear alongside Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra in Farhan Akhtar's upcoming film Jee Le Zara.
