Bhopal: "The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) latest appointed Vishnu Deo Sai as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Speculations arise about a potential replacement for Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the Madhya Pradesh CM. Reports suggest a meeting scheduled for Monday where the 163 newly elected MLAs will convene to elect their leader.

Manohar Lal Khattar, the Haryana Chief Minister, along with K Laxman, OBC Morcha chief, and Asha Lakra, secretary, have been appointed as observers for the meeting. Speculations continue amidst media reports, although Shivraj Singh Chouhan remains committed to his role within the party, stating his willingness to undertake any task assigned to him.

Who are the potential candidates?

Among the names circulating, three union ministers—Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Prahlad Patel—are in contention.

This marks the third instance since 2004 that the Bharatiya Janata Party has deployed central observers to Madhya Pradesh.

In August 2004, during Uma Bharti's resignation as CM, Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley were dispatched as central observers. Similarly, in November the following year, Rajnath Singh was sent after Babulal Gaur's resignation. It was during this meeting that Shivraj Singh Chouhan was elected as the leader of the legislative party.

Meanwhile, the party dispatched Rajnath Singh, Vinod Tawde, and Saroj Pande as central observers in Jaipur. Reports hint at a possible new appointment as the state's chief minister. However, the party is yet to announce the date for the legislative party meeting to choose its leader.

On Sunday, ten MLAs met with former CM and senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje at her residence."
