HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) appears to have made up his mind to form a national party after failing to make any progress on his proposal of a national front.
On June 19, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) executive is likely to make a final decision in this respect at an extended meeting. The TRS president is said to have agreed to the suggestion to form the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) after a marathon discussion with state ministers and top party leaders on Friday.
The process of registering the new party with the Indian Election Commission is expected to begin soon. By the end of June, KCR plans to make an official declaration of a new political party in New Delhi.
The TRS leadership is said to want the BRS to use the TRS symbol of a "CAR" as well. According to party sources, the projected national party will be headquartered at the TRS office in the national capital.
KCR, who has already stated his determination to play a prominent role in national politics, spent more than six hours discussing the present political scenario with his close advisers. He is believed to have agreed to a party MLA's proposal to rename the proposed party Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
