NEW Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi,  has said that his sources have confirmed that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be arrested by CBI on Sunday, February 26.

Kejriwal claimed during his remarks at a media summit, "Manish Sisodia has been contacted by CBI for questioning. According to our information, he will be detained on Sunday. It is quite sad, ". The Delhi Chief Minister added that despite a CBI raid on Sisodia's home and a search of his bank lockers, nothing was found.

Manish Sisodia's residence, lockers, office, and assets in his village were all raided by the CBI, but nothing was discovered, said Kejriwal. Kejriwal said that Sisodia offered hope of a good future to crores of poor children in the country.

Kejriwal praised the Deputy Chief Minister for enhancing Delhi's educational system, "Manish Sisodia is the one who, after 75 years of freedom, has given the nation's impoverished citizens hope that their offspring might enjoy a prosperous future. Today in Delhi, the children of the impoverished are becoming doctors, engineers and attorneys. They now have a lot of hope thanks to Manish Sisodia." He asserted that a plot had been hatched to smear such a person by implicating him in a fabricated charge.

"How will the nation advance if you detain him and charge him with a phoney crime? How will a country advance if the king imprisons people who provide education to the underprivileged youngsters living there and grants complete control to two or four friends? "he said. He also said,  Sisodia was the first person he had met while working in the Income Tax division on December 29, 1999.

Interestingly, Sisodia claimed on Monday that the CBI had summoned him for questioning in the Delhi liquor excise policy issue on February 26.

The CBI had earlier demanded that Sisodia show up for interrogation on February 19. Sisodia asked the central agency to postpone questioning on Sunday, stating that he was "preparing the budget" at the time and could only come before it around the end of February.

The Union Home Ministry's acceptance of his prosecution in the alleged "Feedback Unit" snooping case, according to Sisodia, was "a sign of a coward," and as the Aam Aadmi Party expanded, more complaints would be made. "False accusations against your competitors are a sign of cowardice and weakness. The Aam Aadmi Party will face numerous additional legal challenges as it expands", Sisodia tweeted.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also mentioned the Adani problem while asserting that the administration is "afraid" of the AAP and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The CBI searched Sisodia's bank locker in connection with the investigation in August of last year. According to the deputy CM, there was nothing incriminating in his locker.

Sisodia is not included as an accused in the charge sheet, according to officials, but the investigation into him and other suspects is still ongoing. Among the seven defendants listed in the chargesheet are the arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek.

Butchibabu Gorantla, a former chartered accountant for K Kavitha, a BRS MLC in Telangana and the daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was recently detained by the CBI. On the basis of a report that the Delhi chief secretary forwarded to L-G Saxena urging a central agency investigation, the CBI opened an investigation into the situation.
