New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Friday, November 19, that the Delhi government has scheduled a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to address the procedures that need to be done in light of the threat of a new COVID-19 version from African countries.
On Thursday, the Central government requested that all states and union territories undergo thorough screening and testing of all overseas travellers arriving in or transiting via South Africa, Hong Kong, or Botswana, where a novel COVID-19 variant with major public health consequences was discovered.
"In light of the threat posed by the new COVID-19 variant from African countries, we have asked experts to give a presentation to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Monday and recommend further steps." He said, "We will take all necessary steps to safeguard you and your family."
