Kerala- Alapuzha: On Tuesday, four SDPI activists were detained by the Kerala police team investigating the murder of BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivas in Alappuzha. According to a police official, their arrest would be recorded by Wednesday.
Meanwhile, police recovered four motorbikes from Mannancherry that were allegedly used by the assailants. One of the bikes has bloodstains on it. At least 12 assailants were involved in Sreenivas' murder.
Sreenivas was allegedly hacked to death in his house in Vellakinar, Alappuzha, in retaliation for the December 18 murder of Social Democratic Party of India State Secretary K.S. Shan in Mannancherry. The police arrested two RSS activists on Monday in connection with Shan's murder. On Tuesday, police searched more than 250 locations in the district for the perpetrators of the crime.
Rajendraprasad, alias Prasad, 39, of Mannancherry, and Ratheesh, alias Kuttan, 31, of Mararikulam South, were arrested on Monday. The police have identified a total of ten people involved in Shan's murder, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining eight suspects.
