Kochi: A case has come to light in Kerala. A health officer has been arrested in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, who allegedly raped a woman who came to get the Corona Negative Certificate. Police have said that the victim woman alleged that a junior health inspector called her to get a certificate. When she arrived at his house to get the certificate, the officer tied her up and raped her.
Circle Inspector Sunesh said that "The officer allegedly raped the woman. Tied her hands and mouth and raped her. Medical examination of the woman has been done. Further investigation is underway. A case has been registered under Section 376 of the IPC". Police said the woman had recently returned to her home and was asked by the officer to remain in seclusion. They said the woman underwent an antigen test, which came negative and the accused called her to the house to get the certificate, where she was allegedly raped.
Kerala Health Minister KK Selja has ordered the officer to be suspended. The officer has been identified as Pradeep. The Women's Commission has also registered a case against the officer. Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Ramesh Chennithala said the incidents of rape have embarrassed the state. These incidents show serious flaws of the Health Department.
