Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Assembly passes resolution seeking recall of Lakshadweep administrator Praful Khoda Patel and withdrawal of the controversial orders issued by him.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who moved the resolution in this regard, said there is an attempt to destroy the indigenous lifestyle and ecosystem in the Lakshadweep islands. Opposition leader VD Satheesan also extended support to the resolution and sought the removal of the administrator.
Alleging that there is a plan to implement 'saffron agendas' through the backdoor, he said even coconut trees were painted with saffron colour as part of the agenda.The house also expressed solidarity with the people of Lakshadweep who are on a path of protest against the decisions of the administrator and has demanded immediate steps to safeguard the culture and livelihood of the people of the island.
The interest of the Lakshadweep people has been compromised for Corporate companies in the name of developments.
This was the first resolution passed against the Centre's policies by the Pinarayi Government which came to power for a second consecutive term following the thumbing victory in the April 6 Assembly elections in Kerala.
