Kochi: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that it is not possible for the state government to bring a law to overturn the Supreme Court's decision to allow women of all ages to enter the Swami Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala. Vijayan said in response to a question by the opposition UDF in the assembly that the Supreme Court's September 28, 2018 decision is not like a decision related to Jallikattu or bullock cart race.
Vijayan said, "The Supreme Court's decision on the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple is a decision related to fundamental rights." The state government is bound to implement the decision of the Supreme Court. '' It is noteworthy that in September last year, the Supreme Court lifted the ban on worship by women between 10 and 50 years of age in Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala and thus it had cleared the way for his entry into the temple.
A review petition has been filed against the Supreme Court's decision of September 28, 2018, and its order is expected to come on that month. CM Vijayan has said that prohibiting women of Rajswala age group from entering the temple would violate their fundamental rights and would be against the constitution.
