Kerala Congress Calls for Probe into Conspiracy Against Oommen Chandy

The Kerala Congress is urging an investigation into a suspected conspiracy against the late former Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy. The United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Congress, is demanding a thorough examination of allegations that aimed to implicate Oommen Chandy in a sexual exploitation (alleged) case related to solar scam.

This call for an inquiry follows recent reports suggesting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered the involvement of certain politicians in orchestrating accusations against Oommen Chandy. These accusations had been made by the primary suspect in the sensational solar scam.

The CBI report, which was submitted by its Thiruvananthapuram unit, cleared Oommen Chandy of any wrongdoing, a decision that was subsequently endorsed by the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate earlier this month.

Leaders from the Congress party are demanding transparency in revealing the identities of those implicated in the conspiracy and the release of the complete CBI report. Kerala Congress president K. Sudhakaran stressed the importance of investigating this conspiracy, stating, "If the state government wishes to maintain its integrity and demonstrate courage, they should provide a clear explanation on this matter. If there are allegations against Ganesh Kumar, the CBI should also thoroughly investigate them."

Reports suggest that KB Ganesh Kumar, an MLA from the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the leader of the Kerala Congress, is allegedly linked to the conspiracy, with his name purportedly mentioned in the CBI's findings.

The solar scam of 2013 cast suspicion on the UDF government led by Congress and its Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Three members of Oommen Chandy's office staff were accused of having connections to the primary suspect in the scam, Saritha Nair, and her husband, Biju Radhakrishnan. They were alleged to have deceived investors by falsely claiming their proximity to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to attract investments in a solar company.
