THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With daily Covid cases declining from 50,000 to around 30,000, the rates of Covid consumables have also dropped, according to State Health Minister Veena George.  The statement came after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's weekly cabinet meeting.

A RT-PCR test will cost Rs 300 (previous rate Rs 500) and an Antigen test would cost Rs 100 as against old rate 300.  A PPE package will now cost between Rs 175 and Rs 154, depending on its size, and an N-95 mask would cost between Rs 5.50 and Rs 15.

George stated that those who defraud the public will face severe consequences. Following a decrease in daily Covid-19 cases, the Kerala government has decided to lift the state's Sunday lockdown.

Only emergency services were allowed to operate during the one-day lockdown to prevent the spread of the third wave. The percentage of those who test positive has dropped to 28%. On Monday, Kerala registered 22,524 new cases. The state is hoping that the numbers will continue to drop in the following days. After a brief period of closure, the schools and colleges have reopened. Classes will last until the evening.
