Kochi: Former Union Minister Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has attacked historian Irfan Habib, calling him a 'goon'. The governor has said that Habib tried to "suppress" his voice through scuffles. Let us tell you that Arif Mohammad Khan was seen raging on Irfan Habib when he attacked on Tuesday, remembering an incident of Kannur University in 2019.

Actually, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has said the above things while answering a question of the media in New Delhi. He asked whether the job of an academic scholar is to fight. Irfan Habib is a goon. When I tried to reply, they scuffled and tried to suppress my voice, he said, referring to the December 2019 incident that Habib had reached out to him to fight.

Let us tell you that at that time the Indian History Congress was organized at Kannur University, which was inaugurated by Arif Mohammad Khan. Habib was also a speaker at that event. According to a media report, when the governor was about to begin his address at the event, most of the delegates stood up from their seats and started protesting against his stand on the amended citizenship law.

On his 'criminal' remark on the Vice Chancellor, the Governor said that you all saw how my ADC scuffled. His shirt was torn. Habib came straight to me. On August 21, the governor had accused Raveendran of being part of an alleged conspiracy to attack him during an event at the university.

Let us inform you that Arif Mohammad Khan alleged that Vice-Chancellor Ravindran was involved in a conspiracy to physically hurt me. He is on the post of Vice Chancellor due to political reasons. I was invited there by the Vice Chancellor. What was their responsibility when I was attacked? Was he not expected to report this to the police? But he did not do so.
