Kochi: The Pinarayi Vijayan government of Kerala has decided to convene a special session of the assembly in support of the protesting farmers and against the new agricultural law. The Communist Party of Kerala government will hold a special session of the assembly on 23 December and pass a resolution against the new agricultural laws.

Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that the Kerala cabinet has decided to hold a special one-day assembly session on December 23, which will be called before the session budget session. In this session, agricultural legislation will be discussed, and agricultural law will be rejected. He said that the Kerala government stands firm with the struggling farmers. This proposal means that the new agricultural law will not apply in Kerala. According to sources, not only the ruling party of Kerala but also the opposition is against the new agricultural laws.

Meanwhile, the agitation of farmers against the new agricultural laws is going on for the last 26 days on the outskirts of Delhi-NCR. Five rounds of negotiations have been held between the farmers and the government, but no solution has been found for this deadlock. The government has given written guarantees to retain the MSP, but farmers are adamant on the demand for withdrawal of new agricultural laws.
