Kerala: All 5 shutters of Cheruthoni Dam have been opened. People in Cheruthoni town have been evacuated. The bridge in the town, connecting north and south Idukki district, has been flooded due to incessant heavy rainfall in the region.CM Pinarayi Vijayan issued a High alert warning for downstream areas.

WATCH: All the shutters of the Idukki dam have been opened after 40 years. More than 7500 families have been shifted to relief camps. Yesterday, one gate of the dam was opened for the first time after 26 years according to Times Now.

 

 

 

Around 60 people are trapped in a resort in Munnar after the roads to the resort got blocked due to a landslide in Kerala.

“I spoke to Kerala CM, he is fully satisfied with the assistance of the central govt & he has told me that every department is cooperating well. If he needs any other assistance he will inform me”,Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Kerala rain.

The heavy downpour in the state has killed 26 people till now and over 900 people have been evacuated from the residential areas that were waterlogged due to flash floods and landslides in districts.
