Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Kerala ISIS module case has said after raids at several places in Karnataka and Kashmir that an ISIS-supporting organization in Kerala was funding IS institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. He has said that some suspects of Bandipora were raising funds for ISIS. Indeed, there is an Instagram channel called the Chronicle Foundation, which has more than 5,000 followers. It is being reported that through this many youths are being influenced for armed jihad.
Among the places where NIA conducted searches was the residence of a former Congress MLA late BM Idinbba, who passed away in 2009. NIA alleges that the son and daughter-in-law of the former Congress MLA are members of ISIS. The son of the former MLA has a real estate business. NIA suspected him when he saw Instagram subscribed to the channel. NIA registered a case in March after the suspects Mohammed Amin, Mushad Anuwar, and Dr. Rahees were arrested. Wednesday's search was based on inquiries made to them and digital data recovered.
Two persons each from Karnataka and Kashmir were arrested after interrogation. NIA had alleged that Amin, a resident of Malappuram in Kerala, was the head of the group and was active in the ISIS media network. He was in touch with the ISIS Handlers in Khurasan, Afghanistan, and had plans to target his right-wing supporters and media organizations. NIA has alleged that he was planning to travel to Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan for terrorist training.
