Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari has released  this week and as it was expected, the movie has not only taken a huge start at the box office, it has also become the biggest opener of 2019 . The film is reciving rave reviews from the audience as well as the critics.

As per the early estimate, by beating Ranveer’s Singh Gully Boy (Rs 19.40 crore) and Total Dhamaal (Rs 16.50 crore), it has become highest opener of the year. The movie had taken a good start of around 20 per cent. 

However, later in the day, the audience came out in large numbers and the lapped the movie up. According to a report in Box Office India, Kesari opening day figures will be in the range of Rs 21- Rs 22 crore. The Karan Johar produced war epic is the first film of 2019 to go past Rs 20 crore mark on its day one itself. 

It has also become the second highest opener for Akshay Kumar right behind Independence Day 2018 release Gold. Even though the official opening day figure of the movie is still awaited, it is quite clear that it'll be a record breaker as far as the films released in 2019 is concerned, so far. 

Talking about Kesari, it is based on the battle of Saragarhi. It stars Akshay Kumar and Parineti Chopra in lead role.
