New Delhi: Kia has pulled the wraps off its latest electric vehicle, the EV3, a compact electric SUV set to arrive in India in early 2025. This marks Kia's fourth electric vehicle launch following the EV9, EV6, and EV5. The EV3 will initially launch in Kia's home market before its global rollout.

Built on Advanced E-GMP Platform

The Kia EV3 is built on the E-GMP modular platform, which it shares with its larger counterparts. It retains the family design ethos while incorporating advanced interior technology and features from its higher-end siblings.

Exterior Features

The front of the Kia EV3 boasts vertical headlamps with Kia's signature tigerface design and star map signature lighting concept. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are positioned vertically. The slightly sloping roofline, prominent rear spoiler, and aero-optimized wheels enhance its aerodynamic efficiency. The rear design, similar to the EV9, features a dual-tone bumper and sleek surfacing for the tailgate.

Interior Design

The interior of the Kia EV3 mirrors the sleek design of the EV9, with a dashboard layout that includes twin 12.3-inch floating infotainment screens and a strip of haptic buttons. Navigation and media controls are conveniently located on the two-spoke steering wheel. The EV3's spacious interior features sustainable materials, including seats and roof lining crafted from recycled PET bottles.

Technological Advancements

The EV3 boasts a 12-inch heads-up display, customizable ambient lighting, and an advanced digital display. It includes a premium Harman Kardon sound system and an ADAS suite for enhanced safety. Kia introduces its pioneering personal AI assistant with plans for gradual implementation across other EV models.

Power and Battery

The Kia EV3 offers two battery choices: a standard version with a 58.3kWh battery pack and a Long-Range edition with an 81.4kWh battery pack. Both models feature a front-axle mounted electric motor delivering 201hp and 283Nm of torque. The EV3 accelerates from 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 170kph.

Long-Range Capability

The Long-Range variant can cover up to 600km on the WLTP cycle. The batteries, sourced from LG Chem and operating on a 400V architecture, can charge from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes.

Practicality and Storage

The EV3 offers a spacious 460-liter trunk and an additional 25-liter frunk for added storage capacity. It emphasizes practicality and convenience for daily use.

The Kia EV3 combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable materials, marking Kia's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility in the electric vehicle sector. The upcoming launch in India in 2025 is expected to attract a wide range of environmentally-conscious consumers looking for a reliable and advanced electric SUV.
