The King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk visited the Mahakumbh today in Prayagraj. He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath where he took the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the holy confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The King also participated in the aarti, performed prayers and the traditional rituals at the sacred site amid Vedic chants.

The King and CM reached the Bamrauli Airport by 10 am and visited Qila Ghat proceeding to the Sangam Nose for bathing. The King then offered his prayers at Akshayavat temple and Bade Hanuman temple. He was overwhelmed by the splendor of the place. While heading towards the Sangam, the King also fed the migratory birds from the motor boat. Â
The King’s visit to Mahakumbh reflects upon the significance of the event for the India and the world, for humanity at large. Several dignitaries also participated in the event highlighting the spiritual and cultural ties between the two neighboring nations, India and Bhutan.
The King of Bhutan had reached Lucknow on Monday where he was received by CM Yogi Adityanath at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport offering him a bouquet and seeking about his health. According to traditions there were cultural performances at the Airport to welcome the King. Along with the CM, there were Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, DGP Prashant Kumar and Lucknow Magistrate Vishak G to welcome the King. An official statement confirmed of his scheduled visit to attend the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Tuesday.
Yesterday, the Mahakumbh witnessed the successful commencement of the third Amrit Snan on the occasion of Basant Panchami, which was attended by over 2.5 crore devotees. Every day, a significant surge is observed in the footfall of devotees at the Mahakumbh. The next important event is scheduled on Maghi Purnima. Till date, around 37.50 crore people have marked their attendance at the Mahakumbh.
Today on Tuesday noon, 54 lakh devotees had taken the holy dip at Mahakumbh. The spiritual gathering will culminate on February 26, 2025.
