New Delhi: Sunday, retired IPS officer and BJP member Kiran Bedi appointed lieutenant governor of Puducherry, a post needed bare since the sacking of UPA nominee Virendra Kataria's on July 12, 2014.
Relevantly a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said, "The President has been pleased to appoint Ms Kiran Bedi to be the lieutenant governor of Puducherry with effect from the date she assumes charges of her office’.
Bedi respond, "I am grateful for the government decision. I am here to give my best every day, each day," she said.
The Congress-DMK alliance won 17 seats in the 30-member Puducherry assembly in the just-concluded polls. The LG's post has been vacant since the Modi government sacked Kataria a year after he was appointed.
