NEW DELHI: The RSS-affiliated farmer organisation Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has urged the government to entirely repeal the Goods and Services Tax (GST) imposed on agricultural machinery and to boost the amount of financial support provided under Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) in line with inflation.

Through initiatives like communication in villages, sit-in protests, and padyatras to urge their demands, the BKS activists are attempting to mobilise a large-scale movement across all of the nation's provinces.
On December 19 of this year, BKS will also hold a farmer rally in Delhi called the "Kisan Garjana Rally" with the intention of mobilising thousands of farmers from all across the nation in order to put pressure on the government over their demands.

The All India Executive Committee of the BKS and the principal office bearers of the provinces recently met in Delhi and went into great detail about the movement's road map.

Speaking on the two-day meeting's decision, General Secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra and All-India Secretary Sai Reddy remarked, "The safety of farmers is just as vital as the security of foodgrains. Through the production of an abundance of crops, farmers have contributed to the nation's food security, yet their situation has remained unchanged.

They said, "We will replenish the stock of the country but we will take the reasonable price" was the BSS tagline. However, crop farmers do not receive a fair price based on their costs.

They said that because farmers do not receive input credits for their products, the GST on agricultural inputs need to be eliminated and the Kisan Samman Nidhi's financial assistance ought to be enhanced according to the rate of inflation in the price of agricultural inputs.

They also insisted on enhancing the farmers' financial situation and turning agriculture into a successful industry.

Reddy continued by saying that although Sangh is pressing for profitable pricing based on costs, the governments have not taken any action in that direction. Therefore, by taking part in the rally, workers from all over the nation will express their rights.
