They have an anti-inflammatory effect and help reduce inflammation in patients with chronic joint pain. Not only this, the study shows that olive oil also provides protection to the heart by reducing the deposition of fat inside the coronary arteries.

Apart from this, it can also help reduce the risk of breast cancer, ulcerative colitis and even depression. This research published in the musculoskeletal disease journal Therapeutic Advances involved 124 people aged 55 and older. The research was led by Swiss bone scientist Marie-Noëlle Horcajada. Of the 124 people, both men and women were equally involved and more than half of them were overweight.
