Allan Lichtman prediction on US Election 2020

The USA follows the presidential form of the Government whereas India follows the parliamentary form of Government. In the former system, legislative and executive and judicial branches of the government are separate whereas in India Parliament is a bicameral legislature composed of the President of India and the two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People). US citizens vote for the “electors” and they subsequently elect the Presidential candidates. In India Head of state is different from the Head of the government and does not allow citizens to directly choose the head of the government.

The two most powered political parties in USA are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party built on specific ideologies. The Libertarian Party, Green Party, and other smaller parties also exist in US. India has many parties that operate on the different regional level major national parties are Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress.

The US Electoral College system, elector casts one electoral vote following the general election; there are a total of 538 electoral votes. The candidate that gets more than half (270) wins the election. Members of Lok Sabha (House of the People) or the lower house of India's Parliament are elected based on the vote of adult citizens of India, from a set of contestants who stand in their respective constituencies. The member of Parliament (MP) with majority seats choose their head, who is the Prime Minister of India.

US electoral system uses ballot to cast votes and India uses EVM machines for voting purpose. The main drawback of Indian system is citizens can't elect their state head directly.
