Jarrett Adams is a criminal defense lawyer who at the age of 17 years was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He was fueled with desire for justice and began studying law while imprisoned. His most profound experience with the law came trying to prove his own innocence and today, he's a defense lawyer, fighting to help others facing the same injustices.
Adam attended a summer night party where a girl had accused him and his two friends of rape. Despite a witness statement that denied the accuser's story, they were arrested and charged with sexual assault. The 17-year-old boy was prosecuted as an adult but one of his friends was able to afford an attorney. Adams and the third co-defendant were assigned, public defenders. The first trial went wrong and the court called for a re-trial. Adams' co-defendant got lucky with the private attorney and never spent a day in prison. The court ultimately dismissed his friend's charges after the police got an important witness statement. Still, Adams' no defense strategy cost him almost a decade and was charged with 28 years in prison. He decides to read the law and to prove his innocence against the case filed against him with false charges of rape. In 2004, the Innocence Project agreed to take on Adams' case and by 2007 he was released. He kept his promise and later got graduated as a lawyer.
Not long after that he was hired by the Innocence Project, the same organization which helped exonerate him. Today, he works for his own private practice and is a successful criminal attorney.
