Whenever we worship Lord we used to enlighten the lamp in front of God. The burning of lamps during the worship is of particular importance and it is believed that without any lamp burning prayer is not successful and neither does any benefit to worship. During worship, two types of lamps are lit, which are of ghee and oil. Some rules are attached to burning of ghee and oil lamp, and under these rules, you can burn these lamp during worship.

If you burn lamps of ghee at the time of worship, then surely keep in mind that the ghee lamp always burn by the left hand side. Burning ghee lamp on the left hand in the scriptures is considered to be the best. While during the worship, the lamp of the oil should always be kept towards the right hand and the light of the lamp should be in front of God.

Whenever you worship, keep in mind that ghee or oil in the lamp should be in enough quantity so that the lamp does not off during the worship. It is considered inauspicious to extinguish the lamp while worshiping, and even if this happens, the complete fruit of the pooja can not be obtained as well. Therefore, you should always try to keep the lamps filled so that lamp enlighten for at least half an hour even after worshiping the amount of ghee and oil in such a lamp.
