World Book and Copyright Day, also known as 'International Book Day' and 'World Book Day', is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 23 April to promote reading, publishing and copyright. History of World Book and Copyright Day: Originally on 23 April 1995, it was declared during the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris, and thereafter, on 23 April every year as World Book Day or World Book and Copyright Day or Declared as International Book Day.
