Škoda Auto India has officially launched its new SUV, the Kylaq, unveiling it for the first time both in India and globally. This model represents a significant step for Škoda in India, expanding its market reach and appealing to a new customer base.

Designed with the latest European automobile technology, the Kylaq offers a stylish, modern look and advanced features tailored for Indian roads. The company announced its plans for this SUV earlier this year, and after testing a pre-production version in October, it’s now ready for bookings starting December 2, 2024.

The Kylaq boasts several unique features in its segment, including six-way electrically adjustable and ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger. It also has a designated space to stow the parcel tray, enhancing the boot’s versatility, with a storage capacity of 446 liters that expands to 1,256 liters when the rear seats are folded. Other features include automatic climate control, an electric sunroof on select variants, cruise control, paddle shifters on a six-speed automatic gearbox, leatherette seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging. A large 25.6 cm infotainment screen and a 20.32 cm Virtual Cockpit with a refreshed interface complete the advanced interior setup.

Škoda’s growth in India has accelerated significantly, with record sales in 2022, followed by over 100,000 vehicles sold across 2022 and 2023. With the Kylaq, Škoda aims to capture a larger share of the Indian market, targeting annual sales of 100,000 by 2026.

The Kylaq’s design emphasizes both elegance and robustness, with bold lines, protective cladding around the wheel arches, and a hexagonal pattern along the sides and rear that enhances its SUV character. Powered by a 1.0 TSI engine producing 85kW and 178Nm of torque, the Kylaq can accelerate to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 188 km/h. It comes with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Built on Škoda’s MQB-A0-IN platform, the Kylaq offers over 25 safety features, including six airbags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake distribution, roll-over protection, multi-collision braking, and ISOFIX seats, among others.
