Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has refuted recent reports from the 2023 Instagram Rich List, which purportedly indicated that he earns a staggering $1,384,000 for each post shared on the Meta-owned social media platform. Taking to Twitter, Kohli stated, "The news circulating about my earnings from social media is unfounded."
In a Twitter post, Kohli further elaborated, "While I appreciate and am thankful for all that I have received in my life, the current rumors regarding my social media income are baseless."
The Instagram Rich List 2023 spotlights individuals who generate significant earnings through their social media activity. Both Virat Kohli and actor Priyanka Chopra, prominent figures in India, were listed among the honorees.
As per the list, Virat Kohli occupies the 14th position with an Instagram follower count of 255,269,526. The list alleges that he commands $1,384,000 per post on the Meta-owned platform. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra, with 88,538,623 Instagram followers, is positioned at 29th place, purportedly earning $532,000 for every post.
This isn't the first instance of their appearance on such a list. Both individuals were previously featured in the Instagram Rich Lists of 2021 and 2019.
In 2021, Virat Kohli held the 23rd rank, but has since ascended to the 14th position this year. He was the top-ranking Indian on the Hopper Instagram Rich List, pocketing $680,000 (equivalent to over Rs. 5 crore) per promotional post on the photo-sharing platform. In 2019, he also clinched the title of 'Engaged Account of the Year.'
Similarly, Priyanka Chopra also made the list in 2021, reportedly earning $403,000 (approximately Rs. 3 crore) per promotional post. Her standing was 27th in the rankings.
Back in 2019, the Bollywood starlet secured the title of the wealthiest Indian celebrity on Instagram. She was even honored with the distinction of having the "Most Followed Account" on the platform.
