New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). With this win, KKR has broken the losing streak. Kolkata had to face 5 consecutive defeats before this match. Kolkata had won the last match of the Tata IPL 2022 against Mumbai Indians on April 6. In this match, RR batted first and set a target of 153 runs in front of Kolkata with the help of captain Sanju Samson's half-century. The team achieved this score with 5 balls to spare due to the brilliant batting of Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh.

After this win, KKR is at the 7th position, while Rajasthan is at the third position. Kolkata captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. Buttler could not do any wonders for RR in this match. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 22 off 25 balls, while before him Padikkal was dismissed for a personal score of 2. After a slow start, captain Sanju Samson played brilliant innings of 54 runs, while in the end, Shimron Hetmyer played an unbeaten and fast-paced innings of 27 off 13 balls to take the team to a score of 152. For Kolkata, Tim Southee was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets.

Chasing the target, KKR did not have a good start. Aaron Finch (4) and Baba Indrajith (15) returned to the pavilion. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana took the lead. Both the players shared a half-century partnership for the third wicket.   Iyer was dismissed by Boult for a personal score of 34. After this, Rinku Singh, who came to bat, gave good support to Nitish Rana and the two shared a half-century partnership for the fourth wicket. Rana played an unbeaten knock of 48 runs and Rinku played an unbeaten knock of 42 runs to make the team victorious. Nitish Rana hit the winning six off the first ball of the last over.
