Kolkata: Kolkata metro in its statement said that it will increase the timing of its last metro leaving the station by 1:30 hrs on the occasion of Durga Puja from October 12 to 14. From Durga Puja Saptami to midnight on Nabami the timing of metro operations will be from 10 AM till 11 PM.

Catering to the pre-Puja rush, Kolkata Metro had already added trains during the weekends, with 214 services on Saturdays and 120 services on Sundays. But these are called special trains officially meant for essential workers.

Sharing details by  Manoj Joshi, Chairman, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation said,  "For the three main days of Puja, we have decided that we will increase the timings of the last train by 1:30 hrs. Thus, the last train will leave at 11:00 pm,"  Metro has also determined to increase the frequency of trains for those 3 days with an increase in security arrangements.

Residents of the city reportedly appreciate the decision taken by the authorities because they normally get late at night while going back to their homes after visiting pandals in the city.
