Kone Elevator India is gearing up to produce escalators within India starting in the first half of 2024. This move aligns with the company's expansion strategy and aims to bolster its revenue by introducing more products to the market.

At present, Kone Elevator India is conducting a pilot program at its Sriperumbudur plant, slated for completion by January 2024. Initially, the Indian branch of Kone Corporation will manufacture a limited number of escalators for the local market. Embracing the 'Make In India' initiative, the company will undertake production and assembly operations domestically.

Previously, Kone India relied on escalator imports from China and Finland, followed by assembly within the country. Their primary clientele includes airports, metro stations, railway stations, and shopping malls, among other establishments.

Additionally, Kone Elevator has called upon state governments to swiftly implement the Lift Act, considering its significance. Presently, this act is enforced in 11 states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and New Delhi, among others.
