Kongthong is located in East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. This village is also known as the singing Village which is the tourist attraction it enters for the United  Nation World Tourism Organization Worlds best village contest is also aiming for the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status. This village is different from others not only for its picturesque landscapes or cultural richness, but a unique tradition that has earned it the moniker "The Whistling Village." With a population of around 700 people, Kongthong is a testimony to the harmonious coexistence of nature, culture, and a distinctive way of life.

Kongthong Village is situated in the East Khasi Hills region is known for its abundant rainfall, which contributes to its lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, and breathtaking vistas. The village is perched on a hill, surrounded by terraced rice fields and dense forests.
