Asian championship of boxing postponed due to Corona crisis

The Asian Boxing Championships to be held in India in November-December have been postponed for the next year due to Corona. Boxing Federation general secretary Jai Kovali gave this information on Tuesday. The decision was taken in the meeting of the Asian Boxing Federation Executive Committee which went online on Monday.

Member Kovli of the ASBC Executive Committee told PTI, "Due to the current situation of Corona, the tournament was proposed to be canceled, and it was accepted. The country will remain host and the tournament will now take place in 2021. The 2021 window will be discussed in the next meeting of the Executive Committee in November.

The country last hosted the Men's Asian Championships in Mumbai in 1980, while the women's tournament was held in Hisar in 2003, last year it was made the joint competition of men and women. Due to the coronavirus, the sports calendar has become busy around the world, and many big sports competitions have been canceled. The Olympic and T20 Cricket World Cup are also included in the contest. The same Kovli said, 'We have to be alert, cases of infection are increasing everywhere. Unless it is certain that there is a decrease in cases, it is best to ban things. If there is an improvement in the situation of Corona, then only some decision can be taken.'
