MOSCOW: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was too early to talk about a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky because the peace talks over the continuing Moscow-Kiev battle had yet to yield results.

"You must first complete your coursework before discussing a possible meeting between the two presidents. That is, you must conduct the negotiations and agree on the outcomes," Peskov said at a press conference here on Monday, according to reports.

There has been no major advancement in the negotiation process so far. "The Presidents just do not have any agreements to approve at this time," he explained. Three rounds of in-person negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian delegations have taken place in Belarus since February 28 in order to find a viable conclusion to the fighting.

On March 14, the two sides began their fourth round of negotiations via video link. Mykhailo Podolyak, the Ukrainian Presidential Advisor, stated last week that Zelensky could meet with Putin in the coming days.
