Kullu's Dussehra:

Dussehra is known as Dashami and Dussehra is celebrated here for 7 days. First of all, all the Gods and Goddesses are invited by the king in the honour of Raghunath and all are invited to Dhalpur Valley. A palanquin of more than 100 deities is decorated on the day of Dussehra. Rath Yatra is held for the next 7 days. Raghunath, Sita and Hidimba Devi live prominently in the chariot. The sixth day of the 7-day birth is called 'mohalla'. Lanka is burnt on the bank of the Vyas river on the seventh day. The special thing is instead of burning effigies of Ravana, Meghnad or Kumbhakarna 5 animals are sacrificed for the destruction of the 5 vices of work, anger, greed, fascination and ego within the human being. In the final phase, the chariot is again restored in the temple of Raghunath and this festival ends after 7 days.

Mysore Dussehra:

Mysore's Dussehra also has a special identity in the entire world including India. The Dussehra is celebrated for 10 days. The history of the tradition of celebrating Vijayadashami is more than 600 years old. During this time Chamundeshwari temple and Mysore palace are embellished and the Goddess is duly worshipped. The last day of the festival is called Jambu Sadaari or Ambaraj. The special thing is that on this last day the elephant named 'Balaram' and 11 other elephants are also prettified. The form of Mata Durga, Mata Chamundeshwari then rides on an elephant named Balarama and goes on a city tour. Balaram weighs 750 kg in which about 80 kg of gold is used to adore him.
