Bengaluru: As Chief Minister Kumaraswamy fulfilled his promises to the poor labourers. Kumaraswamy waived off the debt of the state's workers who own less than two hectares of land or whose income is less than one lakh rupees. However, no limit has been fixed on how much debt is waived. He said on Wednesday that he signed his last order on Tuesday. Hours after the four-day debate on the trust vote, his government fell by six votes.

Kumaraswamy has been barred by the Governor from acting as the caretaker chief minister till the new government is formed and he has been barred from taking any major policy decisions like landless labour loan waiver. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru a day after he left power, Kumaraswamy expressed satisfaction that he was able to take some important decisions during his tenure.

This includes loan waiver for landless labourers, which is also taken from private money lenders. Kumaraswamy said it will provide relief to the labourers. It will be effective for one year from the date of issue of the order. "I am satisfied that I brought it. This will be applicable to those who had taken loan before the enactment of this Act. This is an opportunity to make people's lives better. The Act will remain for one year and details of the loan have to be furnished within that time. '
