Ladakh: A somber ceremony was organised in Ladakh to honor the courageous soldiers who tragically lost their lives while performing their duties in the Leh district last Saturday, as reported by the military.

An army officer and eight soldiers met with a fatal accident when an army truck deviated from the road and plummeted into a ravine near Kiari in Leh on the evening of the same day.

"In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, the Fire and Fury Corps Commander, accompanied by all ranks, paid their respects with complete military honors to the valiant individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Ladakh on August 19," stated the Leh-based 14 Corps, which is also referred to as the Fire and Fury Corps, on the 'X' platform (Twitter).

The troops were en route from the Karu garrison to Kyari near Leh, as confirmed by an army officer earlier.

General Manoj Pande, the Chief of the Army Staff, conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire ranks for the lives lost in the tragic incident.

A message on the official 'X' account of the Indian Army conveyed, "General Manoj Pande #COAS and all members of #IndianArmy deeply mourn the loss of nine #Bravehearts in a tragic and unfortunate road accident in #Ladakh, and offer our deepest sympathies to the grieving families."

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, expressed their condolences over the soldiers' loss in the accident.
