Lahore: According to reports, Lahore provincial capital has been declared the world's most polluted city, far ahead of its traditional rival New Delhi. Lahore's official Air Quality Index (AQI) was reported at 289 (averaged between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.), while international monitoring organisations put the score at 397. With 187, New Delhi's pollution level was less than half that of Lahore. Individual areas of Lahore fared worse, with Kot Lakhpat (an industrial area) crossing the 500 mark, Fatehgarh, which houses the majority of the steel melting industry, hovering around 400, and relatively green areas like Raiwind at 403 AQI.

"The pollution concentration is 34.8 times higher than the World Health Organization's annual air quality value of 397 AQI. This is dangerous, according to environmentalists, with some points becoming "extremely hazardous." "According to the report, Abdul Rauf, who represents an organisation working on the city's air quality, explains. "What makes the situation dangerous is that it was not smog on Monday; it was pure pollution," an environment department official claims. When smoke and fog mix, smog forms

On November 1, the city's humidity level was 60%, which does not produce fog. Monday's mist did not irritate the eyes, indicating that it was not smog. This indicates that the haze was caused entirely by pollution.
